About Jackie LLoyd

Jackie is on the move!

“Looking at me now, friends are always surprised when I tell them I didn’t learn to ride until I was 31!,” says Jacqui. “I always wanted to learn to ride but there never seemed to be any time. Eventually, I went on holiday with a friend, we had a glass of wine or two and just talked each other into it. We learnt in an open air arena in Lancashire in the winter – it turned out to be perfect preparation for endurance riding!”

Less than a year later, Jacqui got her own horse, an Arabian mare called Miss April. “Her previous owner was a friend of a friend, and she was looking for someone to help. I started riding Miss April, and quickly fell in love with her and bought her. I was out riding one day and got mixed up with a group of endurance riders competing. I rode with them for several miles then rode back to the venue to find out all about it. From there, I started doing endurance rides and haven’t looked back, so much so that I moved house so I could have my horses at home! Miss April sadly died at the age of 31 earlier this year, but I have my grey Arab mares Zim Nazka and Redhouse Lily Marlene, and my gelding Khalifa BJ.”

“Endurance has taken over my life! I’ve trained all my horses myself, and they’ve achieved international qualification status at one and two star FEI level, while Zim Nazka is the only horse to have ever been awarded Highpoint Champion of Lancashire four years in a row.”

Now Jacqui is following another dream – that of living in the south of the UK. She’s moving ‘Team Lloyd’ to pastures new, and her previous base, Fox’s Lair, is on the market complete with stables and ample grazing. “It’s time for me to move on, but I hope someone else will be as happy and successful here as I’ve been!” she says.
